In 2021, we were invited by Cortadoria — a company founded in 1943 and based in S. João da Madeira — to develop a visual series exploring its factory and production processes.
The resulting images trace the transformation of natural fibers — rabbit, hare, and beaver fur — into felted and non-felted textiles. They reveal the care embedded in each stage, highlighting textures, tonal variations, and the precision required in the preparation of the fibers. Through this series, we aimed to make visible the labor, expertise, and beauty inherent to both the materials and the craft.
