Cru
In 2017 we were invited by designer Alejandra Jaña to develop the visual universe of CRU wines, created by winemaker Luís Seabra. The project sought to capture the Douro wine region in its rawest form — translating the essence of the name CRU (meaning “raw”) into images and film, without artifice or embellishment.
Our journeys through the region revealed not only the almost alchemical nature of Luís's work, but above all the people who surround him — figures rooted in the land, guardians of a knowledge passed down through generations. Among them are Diamantino, in his century-old cooperage; Lucília, still working in the vineyards in her eighties; and Manuela Barriguda, the baker from Favaios. Together with countless other vineyard workers and artisans, they form a constellation of characters who intimately know the landscape and, through their daily labour, help shape the identity of northern Portugal's wine culture.
